The Family Prayer
More than a year back when I went home on vacation, my dear wife and myself attended a retreat for couples, conducted in our parish. A former headmaster from a nearby school, a very active member of our faith conducted the retreat. Forgive me for saying so, but in many of the sermons that I have heard, including the above retreat, I found a glaring omission, the importance of " THE FAMILY PRAYER".
It is said that the family is the nucleus of a society and I believe that a family prayer is the fundamental factor for a healthy family in many ways.
It is said that the family is the nucleus of a society and I believe that a family prayer is the fundamental factor for a healthy family in many ways.
In my younger days, a prayer in our houses (at least before the TV, etc. came in as intruders) was a very strict and essential daily rountine, be it a Hindu or a Muslim or a Christian. The Gita, the Koran and the Bible/Angelus/Rosery were read regularly at sunset in our houses.
In those days this prayer was the very reason for everyone to be at home at sunset.
These days in many of our households, forget a family prayer, not even a prayer is said.
A family that prayers together stays together !
This great lesson, which our parents / grand-parents imbibed in us should never be lost.
To Err is human
To forgive divine
And to guide is destiny !

thanks for the timezones...
this place is pin drop silence...i could snap my fingers and ICELAND might be able to hear it...
where's all the postings by others?
I forgot to mention what i really wanted to say after getting carried away like that..
prayer definitely changes a whole lot of things, you're right...we used to have daily rosaries, now its like nearly impossible to get everyone together..maybe we should have a compulsory rosary...those who dont say it dont get to eat...
sounds fair to me...
