When did you "write a letter" the last time ...

In the good old days, the "POSTMAN" was the most "look forward to" guy. Alhough there are jokes of the dog chasing him and we having a laugh; snatching a letter from the postman and running away to read the same in private was such a joy. My father used to write regularly to his dear wife and it would be pages & pages and he would even use the edge of the paper to fill in the last few words (a sort of PS). My dear brother wrote once in a blue moon and his handwriting was very good and his letters were always interesting with alot of "big brother" stuff.
In those days, I got into a hobby called "DXING" by which one listens to Radio Stations in the all bandwaves, especially the shortwave. I used to write to these stations and they used to send me a card called a QSL card acknowleding my listening to them and lots of souvenirs and literature about their country. This brought in alot of mail from distant countries (it also got me spending a fortune of my father's & my brother's money on postage).
So imagine the agony of waiting for the postman and the escasty of receiving mail from him.
Last year, I came across the same postman while visiting my village and it was a real joy to see one of the most "Welcome Faces" of my yesteryears.
Is there an ODE to the postman somewhere out there ?
